I know everyone is doing the You Tube and TikTok thing now but I can't bring myself to make videos. Maybe one day. I have some great ideas for some really good ones. For now, I'm going to keep on blogging.
To briefly explain my 6 year absence from blogging, I attended college and obtained my degree in EE. It was a dream I didn't realize I even had. It was so much hard work and stress but I obtained what I wanted, to have a basic understanding of what all this electronics stuff is. I also had some unexpected crazy personal challenges going on that took up my free time.
As I advanced through my courses, I found that the more I learned, the less I knew. The gatekeeping was hard to get through but I had an amazing electronics teacher. He taught me more than I could ever imagine and it was a small fraction of his vast knowledge. He taught us grad school concepts in junior year. It was worth it. I can make things that make my heart sing and I'm ready to start documenting them here to maybe help others trying the same projects.
I can't do much, but I know I am capable of learning just about anything. My recent focus has been on LEDs and individually programmable LEDs. I'm also working on a bench top power supply from an old ATX power supply. It's the one thing I'm missing from my home lab setup and its close to being completed. Non-electronics wise, we've purchased a hobby sized laser cutter this year and I've done a few project boxes and other things with it that I'd like to show. I'm a bit scattered in my projects and I work on each a little at a time sometimes because real life gets in the way or I need to wait on another part. I'm hoping blogging will help me track and finish projects.
Overall, I'm going to make this blog an informal place for what I'm making, recent and past projects. I'm no expert, so I'm going to label my electronics posts Humble Electronics. I generally use stuff I get off of Amazon but I'm thinking of using Mouser more and a store I recently discovered. I also throw in some bits and parts scrapped from various places and past projects. I'm not perfect and encounter issues and problems I'd like to talk through, even on simple LED projects. Nothing I do I consider very difficult but I might discover some challenges along the way and they may be entertaining, at least for me.
Feel free to comment but I may not be able to answer in a timely manner. I don't want to ignore interaction but my life has had many challenges lately. Work and family come first but I have more free time now than I have had previously so there's a good chance I can keep this up now.
Well that's it for my wordy update. I think I have about 10 blog posts I can start and scheduled to post once a week for a bit. I just have to get them organized on the computer.
Happy Making!
Michelle
